Testimonial: Community College of Philadelphia

Our College needs more space to perform our critical ongoing education mission for our City's residents. We identified a $22 million expansion project but needed to generate wide community support in order to raise half the money. Capital Advocates developed the strategy to help secure early stage support from federal sources. They helped guide the incorporation of a vital regional economic development component that attracted private, public and other academic participants as part of our planned expansion. It directly resulted in a more robust partnership of our Community College of Philadelphia, City, State, private sector and ultimately, Federal, institutions. The Federal Economic Development Administration approved $1.67 million to develop a regional biotech focused hub on our expanding Northeast Philly campus.

Paired with other SBA funds they help identify, we were able to secure nearly $2 million that we needed to launch us on our way to raising private money to match Pennsylvania's aide to the project. Even as availability of federal funds shifted, they were strategic, flexible and prepared enough to help us hone our project to satisfy the national priorities, our own College goals and those of economic development partners important to future growth in our region.
